We are hiring a Database Administrator to own and modernise the clients database environment across SQL and NoSQL. This is a production-scale role: the emphasis is on optimisation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of live database systems under real operational load, not just installation and maintenance. The role covers the full database lifecycle — installation, security, architecture, performance, and ongoing operational support — ensuring databases remain scalable, secure, and highly available.

Production Optimisation & Troubleshooting. Diagnose and resolve complex, production-scale issues across distributed NoSQL and MS SQL clusters under live operational load. Continuously optimise database performance — query tuning, indexing, resource allocation — at production scale, not just in test environments. Lead root cause analysis on high-impact production incidents and drive permanent fixes, not just workarounds. Proactively identify and resolve scalability and reliability risks before they impact production. Database Administration & Operations Install, configure, secure and maintain databases across SQL (Microsoft SQL Server) and NoSQL (MongoDB) environments. Manage database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes to protect against data loss. Administer user access, roles, and permissions in line with security and compliance requirements. Monitor database health, storage capacity, and resource utilisation, and plan for capacity growth. Apply patches, upgrades, and version updates with minimal disruption to live services.

Deep, hands-on experience troubleshooting and optimising distributed database clusters at production scale. Strong hands-on administration experience with Microsoft SQL Server. Strong hands-on administration experience with MongoDB or equivalent NoSQL databases. Experience with backup/recovery tools and database monitoring/alerting platforms. Scripting ability for automation of routine DBA tasks (e.g. PowerShell, Bash, or Python). Understanding of database security best practice, including encryption and access control. Working knowledge of Linux and/or Windows Server environments
